About Jhalana

Jhalana Leopard Safari also known as Jhalana Leopard Safari Park is India’s first dedicated leopard safari situated in heart of Jaipur-Rajasthan. Nestled amid the ancient Aravali hill this reserve was officially  operational since December 2016. Covering an area of 23 square kilometers, Jhalana Leopard Safari Park is home to 40-45 leopards, with 10-15 of them residing in the park’s tourism area. Despite being generally a shy creature these apex predators thrive in the park with minimal competition and as a result leading to more frequent and rewarding sightings for visitors.

In addition to the mighty leopards visitors can spot a variety of wildlife such as striped hyenas, Indian civets, desert cats, jungle cats, desert foxes, jungle rats, monitor lizards, mongooses, as well as sambar deer, spotted deer (chital), blue bulls (nilgai), and various snakes. The park also features Shikaar Audi a three-storey hunting lodge once used by the royal families of Jaipur. Situated in the heart of the leopard reserve it offers an animal-spotting platform where you can enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

Jhalana Leopard Reserve is also a haven for bird lovers by having a variety of rare and exotic bird species. Birdwatchers can observe species such as the Indian Pitta, Dusky Eagle Owl, Indian roller , cattle egret  and Spotted Owlet and various  other species.

  • Monsoon Season During the monsoon season, the park transforms into a lush green haven offering a visual treat . At this time, you will see a lot of bird activity and reptile movement also . However the dense vegetation can reduce leopard visibility though their presence along safari tracks may become more noticeable as they move here and there in different park regions .
